Human hair or synthetic? It is the first question most women in Kenya ask when buying a wig, and the right answer depends on your budget, your lifestyle and how you like to style your hair. This guide compares human hair, human hair blend and heat-resistant fibre wigs side by side, so you can choose with confidence.

100% human hair wigs
Human hair wigs are made from real hair, so they look and move the most naturally. You can curl, straighten and even colour them, and with proper care a good unit will last the longest of the three.
Choose human hair if: you want the most natural look, you enjoy changing your style often, or you are looking for a long-term investment wig for work and special occasions.
Human hair blend (semi-human) wigs
Blends mix human hair with fibre. They give you a natural look and some styling flexibility, at a lower price than 100% human hair.
Choose a blend if: you want a natural look on a mid-range budget.
Heat-resistant fibre (synthetic) wigs
Modern heat-resistant fibre looks far better than the shiny synthetic wigs of the past. The curl or wave is set into the fibre, so your style returns after washing with very little effort. These wigs are also the most affordable.
Choose synthetic if: you want a low-maintenance wig for everyday wear, you like trying new colours and styles without a big spend, or you want a protective style.

Which one should you buy?
- Budget under KSh 5,000: heat-resistant fibre. A headband or 4×4 closure wig is the easiest place to start.
- Budget KSh 7,000 – 8,000: a human hair blend lace front, or a short 100% human hair bob.
- Budget KSh 9,000 and above: 100% human hair curls and long lengths, such as water curl or jerry curl.
- First wig ever? A headband wig is the easiest to wear, with no glue and no lace to cut.
Care tips for every wig
- Detangle gently from the ends up with a wide-tooth comb.
- Wash with a sulphate-free shampoo and let the wig air-dry on a stand.
- Keep heat low on blends and fibre wigs, and always check the label first.
- Store your wig on a stand or in its bag, away from direct sun.
Good care keeps your wig looking new for longer, and keeps it covered by our warranty.

Are human hair wigs worth the extra cost in Kenya?
If you want the most natural look and plan to wear and style the wig often, yes. With proper care, a human hair wig lasts much longer than a synthetic one.
Can I straighten a synthetic wig?
